    The Making of a Champion

Born on September 3, 1961, in Arlington, Virginia, he comes from a family dedicated to public service and academic excellence. His father, Walter Wolf, a U.S. Navy Officer and Georgetown-educated English major from Queens, New York, and his mother, Isabel Wolf, a food scientist and Trinity College alumna, set a foundation of resilience and intellectual curiosity. August, their only son and second child, grew up alongside two sisters who pursued arts and academia. His family relocated during the Vietnam War, settling in Minnesota in 1968 due to his parents' academic and teaching commitments.

    August's Education Journey

Educated at St. Paul Academy in Minnesota—alma mater of F. Scott Fitzgerald—August was introduced to shot put by Athletic Director Dave Montgomery, who recognized his potential in the sport. After graduating in 1979, he attended Princeton University, where he studied at the Woodrow Wilson School of International Affairs, graduating cum laude. August was a pivotal member of Princeton's Track team, setting an enduring Ivy League record in shot put.

    The Road to Olympics

Post-college, August's athletic career flourished with a DAAD scholarship to the University of Bonn, Germany, from 1983 to 1984, where he also prepared for the 1984 Olympic Games. His achievements during this period culminated in a fourth-place finish at the Olympics. Although not the podium finish he hoped for, the experience was invaluable, solidifying his status as an Olympian, a title he proudly signifies with the "OLY" suffix.

    Career Shifts

Transitioning from athletics, August entered the financial sector, starting at Kidder Peabody on the Chicago Board of Trade floor. His finance career evolved through roles at central banks and firms across the U.S. In 2017, August pivoted to commercial real estate, quickly establishing himself as a trusted commercial title agent at Langdon Title in New York City.

Support for Athletics and Community Involvement

August's commitment to athletics extends to his family, with his children excelling in various sports. His leadership in fundraising for Princeton's track program and his foundation of the U.S. Athletic Trust exemplifies his dedication to supporting athletes.

    Entering the Political Arena

After a stint on Wall Street, August ventured into politics, influenced by figures like David Koch, and ran for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut in 2016. Although he faced internal political challenges, these experiences have shaped his ongoing political engagements in South Florida.

    Focus on Opportunity

In 2024, August founded Mission Opportunity, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting diversity in the real estate supply chain. This reflects his commitment to transparency, opportunity, and excellence. His work with Langdon Title continues to enhance his impact in commercial real estate, leveraging his deep-rooted finance skills and broad network.
